Correct installation techniques for plug valves?
2024-11-26 14:37:04

Plug Valves are widely used in pipeline systems for liquids, gases and steam. They are favored for their simple structure and convenient operation. Correct installation can ensure long-term efficient and safe operation. The following are the correct installation tips for plug valves:
1. Check the type and specifications of the plug valve
Ensure that the valve specifications match: Before installation, confirm whether the pressure level, size, medium type and operating temperature of the plug valve meet the requirements of the pipeline system.
Check the integrity of the valve body: Make sure that the valve is not damaged during transportation and storage, especially the sealing surface, plug and valve body connection of the valve.

2. Choose a suitable installation location
Avoid the valve at the lowest point of the system: This can avoid the influence of medium deposition on the valve.
Easy to operate and maintain: Ensure that there is enough space around the valve for operation and maintenance.
Prevent the valve from excessive vibration: The installation location should try to avoid excessive vibration. Excessive vibration may affect the sealing performance of the valve.
3. Preparation before installation
Clean the pipeline and valve: Before installation, it is necessary to remove debris and oil in the pipeline. Residues in the pipeline may affect the sealing effect and opening and closing performance of the valve.
Check the sealing material: Check the sealing ring and gasket of the plug valve to ensure that they are not damaged and match the medium and working temperature.
4. Correct installation direction
Follow the flow direction mark: The plug valve usually has an arrow to indicate the flow direction of the fluid. When installing, make sure that the flow direction of the fluid is consistent with the arrow on the valve.
Installation position: The installation position of the plug valve should be vertical or horizontal, but it is usually recommended to install the plug valve in a horizontal position to avoid affecting the valve performance due to medium retention.
5. Avoid over-tightening
Threaded connection: Plug valves are usually connected by threads or flanges. When installing, choose the appropriate tools and methods according to the specifications of the pipeline and valve. Avoid excessive force, especially on the threaded connection part, to prevent damage to the valve body or seals.
Uniform force: If it is a flange connection, ensure that the bolts are tightened evenly to avoid leakage due to uneven pressure.
6. Precautions during installation
Avoid using hammering: During installation, avoid hitting the valve or pipe with tools such as hammers to avoid damaging the sealing surface or other parts of the valve.
Check whether the valve moves smoothly: After installation, manually check whether the plug valve opens and closes smoothly to ensure that the plug in the valve can rotate freely without being stuck.
7. Check for leaks and functional tests
Air tightness test: After installation, a leak test should be performed to check whether there is any leakage at the connection between the valve and the pipeline.
Operation test: By manually or automatically controlling the opening and closing of the valve, ensure that the valve functions normally, moves flexibly, and seals well.
8. Regular maintenance
Check the wear of the seal: The sealing surface of the plug valve may wear due to long-term use. Regular inspection and replacement of the seal is the key to ensure the long-term stable operation of the valve.
Clean the valve: During use, regularly clean the debris in the valve, especially when there are solid impurities or sediments in the pipeline medium. Regular cleaning can avoid valve jamming.
By following these correct installation tips, the plug valve can perform well in the pipeline system, ensuring the accuracy of fluid control and the stable operation of the system.
